Today was the day of folks with dogs needing great homes for rent. Some where suddenly left with dogs from a family member. Others have time, but want to move. Yet, the dog is in the equation. Some have multiple dogs. That can make things trickier.

If your a renter, having a dog is possible, but you have more costs involved. Usually ends up in the way of a pet deposit, but also having the dog caged when your not home helps out. Also, smaller the better with dogs in apartments. If you have a bigger dog, consider renting a house. I seen many out there who allow pets, and have fenced in back yards. Especially consider renting a house if you have two large dogs.

Now, I have been a landlord for over 5 years, and have had to deal with a tenant who had a dog. I allowed one dog into the lease. Not too long after that, he got another dog. I found out about that dog from the neighbors. They called me to complain. Landlords don’t want to deal with such issues. Plus all it does is sour the relationship between you two.

So my advice to renters.

Keep it to one animal at most if its a dog.

Get a crate for it when your not home.

Expect a pet deposit

Having good credit, long time job, and good references helps too.
